APM Terminals Gothenburg to expand empty container depot in collaboration with MCR

APM Terminals Gothenburg is expanding its empty container depot by more than 10,000 square metres to meet the increasing export demand. The expansion, in collaboration with MCR, provides space for an additional 1,200 TEU.

APM Terminals has signed an agreement for the new storage area, which is expected to be in operation in spring 2025.

“This is an important step in future-proofing the terminal's empty container capacity and in ensuring that Swedish companies always have access to the containers they need for their export goods,” says Henrik Krona, responsible for the empty container depot at APM Terminals.

The new storage area is strategically located next to MCR-owned Conspect, which handles the inspection and preparation of empty containers arriving at the terminal by truck.

"We already have a successful collaboration with MCR on off-shore container inspection, which has been highly appreciated by our customers. We are now building on this," Krona concludes.
