Even more reliable rail management through OCR

Following the successful implementation of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology on our ship cranes last year, APM Terminals is now taking the next step by introducing OCR to our rail cranes. This advancement is set to further elevate our operational efficiency and quality assurance.

"OCR technology acts like digital eyes for our cranes, automatically reading container numbers and instantly identifying any deviations. This ensures that everything is correct from the start, enhancing the speed and accuracy of our handling and improving service delivery to our customers,” explains Homam Mansour, Execution Manager at APM Terminals Gothenburg.

With OCR, our customers gain access to even more precise data on when containers are loaded or unloaded from trains. Additionally, customers can request images of their containers, providing valuable support in the event of claims.
