Record interest in railway solutions for APM Terminals Gothenburg – four new destinations in six months

Interest in rail lines is reaching new heights, and APM Terminals Gothenburg predicts a record year for railway volumes. The network is also expanding with several new destinations, both within and outside Sweden’s borders.

During the first half of the year, APM Terminals in Gothenburg welcomed a total of four new destinations to its network, namely Oslo, Umeå, Bastuträsk and Haparanda.

'We've never seen such interest in our combi terminal before and volumes are now approaching the same level as the record year, 2022. Confidence in the railway network has never been greater and we expect at least five new shuttle lines after the summer. I feel confident to say that we're heading for a new record year', says Svante Altås, salesperson and railway expert at APM Terminals Gothenburg. He adds:

'The fact that our Nordic neighbours have now found their way to APM Terminals Gothenburg by rail is, to say the least, an exciting development, which I think we've only seen the beginning of.

Creative solutions and collaborations solve challenges

In recent years, several major railway works have been carried out as a result of degraded infrastructure, delayed responses and political decisions that have affected rail traffic. Despite this, strong cooperation and great creativity have proven to be able to solve most things.

'Rail traffic has not been running as it should over the past year, but the opposite is true of the train operators' creativity and ability to solve problems. I'm very much impressed by the strong motivation to continue developing solutions, despite the challenges, and I'm happy that we at APM Terminals can contribute to this work', says Svante Altås.

'I really want to thank our railway customers for the great trust and the fantastic feedback we get from our customer surveys. Together with you, we look forward to continuing to develop new, sustainable, and reliable solutions together', he concludes.
