APM Terminals Apapa expands learning opportunities to Institutional Stakeholders

As part of our drive to lift standards of responsibility, we are committed to support our community and stakeholders to get closer to our core business and exchange knowledge. With rapidly changing market conditions and evolving customer needs in the maritime industry, it is essential for our stakeholders to have a deep understanding of industry potential and emerging trends. To promote our customer-centric model, we need to ensure continuous engagement to have the right information and capabilities in place.

This month, our leadership team at APM Terminals Apapa initiated a “Container Terminal Fundamentals” training with our colleagues at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). The training program developed internally at APM Terminals Apapa provides an overview of terminal business and operations. The training is designed as a part of our people upskilling and transformation journey. The “Container Terminal Fundamentals” training will add value to our core focus: Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost-effective working environment!

26 energetic NPA colleagues from Lagos, Calabar and Onne participated in the first external stakeholders training conducted on 15th September 2023 at APM Terminals Apapa training facilities. The training was kicked off by Terminal Manager, Steen Knudsen and the one day training session was facilitated by our Planning Manager, Riyaz Melekolangath, with the closing message conveyed by Head of Operations, Karan Tariyal.

One of the participants had this to say, “It exceeded my expectations! I have learnt things I had never heard of before and I thought nothing can be new to me in terminal operations by now.” Participants expressed their amazement at the wealth of new knowledge they acquired during the training. They were pleasantly surprised to learn about concepts and techniques they had not encountered before, which expanded their understanding of the industry.

We are looking forward to engage with other local authorities during upcoming sessions!
