A warm gesture for the local community

APM Terminals in Aarhus has donated a container to benefit homeless people in the local community.

The gift to the non-profit organisation Hjemløs I Århus (Homeless in Aarhus) means that the organisation can provide warm, dry, clothing throughout the cold Danish winter months without spending money on commercial storage. The solution enables the organisers — staffed entirely by volunteers — to save money and plough more funds into much-needed supplies.

"Wherever in the world we operate as APM Terminals, the connection to our local community is important. We take care of each other and help where and how we can — above and beyond our job of servicing customers with imports and export. We are happy to be able to help with a specific task like this to address a specific need," says Managing Director Mikael Gutman.

Much needed facility

For its part, the Hjemløs I Århus organisation said the donation was welcome and of "huge importance."

"We needed more storage for warm clothes for the winter season. The container will ensure that we can provide warm and dry clothes to the homeless people in Aarhus. Moreover, getting this donation from APM Terminals means that we can spend money on warm clothes instead of using it on storage. It means the world to us,” said Rikke Sejthen from Hjemløs I Århus.
