Storage & Warehousing
The Port is divided into three zones. The first zone is reserved for bonded goods whose free stay is limited to 11 days for national transit and 30 days for international transit. The second zone is a storage area with no time limit and the third zone is reserved for oil and industrial activity, as well as port extensions.
The port has total capacity for storing 27,000 containers. In total, the port as 126 ha of surfaced storage. The commercial port also has specialized platforms for handling container traffic, logs and eucalyptus logs.
These facilities are complemented by the specialized equipment including a cement silo, a wheat silo, a wine cellar, storage tanks for hydrocarbons and by-products, and vegetable oil storage tanks.
Ship refueling
Drinking water and hydrocarbons are provided to ships either alongside (oil pipeline, tanker trucks, etc.) or offshore by tugs. A marine bunkering or ship chandler in the port can provide ships with various commodities and products.
Pilotage and towing
Congo's only seaport, Congo Terminal is the only natural outlet on the Atlantic Ocean. Pilotage is provided 24 hours a day by the Port Authority. Piloting and towing are mandatory for any vessel having a net tonnage greater than or equal to 100 tons. The use of a tug is mandatory for any vessel of overall length greater than 130m. Two tugs are required for any vessel of overall length greater than 160 m.
In order to provide certain services efficiently, the Port of Pointe-Noire has two ocean-going tugs, two pilot boats, three mooring boats, a hydrographic launch and a service star.
Mooring services are provided by the Port Authority.
Berthing
Commercial port
The commercial port can receive vessels with a maximum draft of 10.45 m. Its traffic processing capacity is estimated at 5-6 million tonnes per year. It has 13 berths spread over 2,135 m, including:
- G quay 530 m long, of which 250 m at -10.25 m and 280 m at -13.20 m
- D pier 720 m long with depths ranging from -7.60 m to -9.40 m
- A 70 m long berth with a depth of -3.70 m
- Mole pier is 1,440 m long, with 350 m at -9.45 m and 90 m with depths ranging from -9.45 m to -4.00 m
- Oil station with depths of -11 m
- The wharf of the Petroleum Services Center (CSP) is 190 m long with depths of -8,50m
Oil logistic base
- BOSCONGO quay 426 m long with depths of -4,50 m
- ELF CONGO wharf, 300 m long with a depth of -6 m
Djéno oil terminal
The terminal is equipped with a mooring buoy for the loading of crude oil. It is located 13 miles from the public port.
Ship repairs & maintenance
The Congo Terminal’s haulway facilities are available for refitting and repairing vessels up to 700 tonnes. Maintenance and small ship repair are also provided by private yards.
