APM Terminals Poti continues upgrade of equipment fleet
APM Terminals Poti has purchased 8 New Terminal Tractors and Trailers in line with Poti Sea Port’s modernization program and ongoing commitment to improving operational efficiencies within the port.
Terminal Tractors with their specially designed trailers are used to safely transport containers from the vessel side to the Container Yard, allowing for an uninterrupted and reliable operation. This brand-new Terminal tractors are computer equipped, and wirelessly connected to the Port’s operating system, supporting real time tracing of container movements.
This latest step of updating Poti Port with state-of-the-art equipment is another example of proactively preparing for the future challenges and aspirations, developing Georgia’s largest port, and providing increased service levels to our clients.
General Information
APM Terminals, part of the A.P Moller – Maersk, operates a global network of 78 operating ports and terminal facilities spread over 58 countries.
In April 2011, APM Terminals purchased Poti Sea Port, the largest port in Georgia, a multi-purpose facility with 15 berths for cargo and RoRo service, with total quay length of 2,900 meters and more than 20 quay cranes. Since assuming operations, APM Terminals has invested over USD 80 million upgrading the outdated port infrastructure and service facilities, including the construction of a new Customs Center, as well as new rail and truck facilities.
During this period Poti Sea Port has continued with upgrades of the current port infrastructure and equipment to make it the most productive and safest port in the Region while maintaining its preeminent position as the leading gateway to and from Central Asia and the Caucasus.
