Change in barge handeling as from February 2025

In February 2025, the new Gemini network will start. This network focuses strongly on the hinterland, with special attention to barge capacity. In order to process the extra volumes in this network quickly, reliably and safe, optimizations are being implemented in the planning and handling of barges.

What will change for barge handling?

An important change is the minimum call sizes. This adjustment ensures more efficient handling and better utilization of our capacity.
The changes are as follows:

  • Fixed Windows are only accepted with a minimum call size of 175 containers.
  • Non Fixed Windows have a minimum call size of 15 containers.

To ensure that this new approach runs smoothly, dual banking is also allowed.

A lot of work has been done recently to design and optimize the new schedule. The new schedule is almost finished and will then be shared via our Berthplanning.

We understand that these changes are asking a lot of you, but we want to emphasize that together we can guarantee good handling, even with the extra volumes.
