Deep-sea update

Tandem loading and unloading

Anyone who has ever been to the terminal may have seen it live: tandem operation. Our Remote Crane Operators are using it more and more and all are also trained to work with it safely and quickly. Tandem operation is becoming more widely used for both unloading and loading. The special tandem spreader of the quay crane then picks up two 40ft containers at the same time instead of one 40ft container. This results in even faster and more reliable container handling of Deepsea vessels.

Reducing Idle Time

Together, we make the customer experience even better. The MVII team worked with professionals from other terminals, from various functions to investigate the Idle Time of all Asia services. The focus was on the start-up of the vessel, with the goal of starting to handle containers as quickly and safely as possible after arrival, thus reducing the vessel’s dwell time.

The process and timeline for each deep-sea crane was mapped out. In addition, knowledge and experience was exchanged with various stakeholders, such as the captain of the Madison Maersk. In this way, it became clear what was going well, but also what could be improved in this process.

As a result, the schedule has been adjusted. As a result, we are now able to predict the first container operation per crane so that the right priorities can be defined. It also allows us to have a much better understanding of any points of improvement afterwards.
Idle Time at start of operation for all services has now been reduced by 15%!

Chocolate letters on board

On December 5, our COO Joost Mes gave chocolate letters to all crew members of the ship Morten Maersk. In this way they could enjoy our Dutch tradition St. Nicholas.
