APM Terminals Poti Professional Development Program concludes fourth year
APM Terminals Poti’s Talent Acquisition and Development Program “InPort” was first launched in 2017. Despite the challenges created by the COVID Pandemic, the company has hosted its 4th wave this year, with three participants already welcomed as full-time members of the Poti team.
Due to the current situation in the labour market, this is the second year in a row that the company has focused on technical professions to support its business needs. Referred to as “InPort STEM”, the targeted programme aims to acquire young, professionally educated talent, and offers selected participants the opportunity for paid internships.
Quality education and experience
One of the main priorities of APM Terminals Poti's Corporate Responsibility is to provide quality education, as an unconditional basis for the sustainable development of the labour market. That is why the company constantly strives to provide local, interested, motivated young people with the opportunity to gain experience at Poti Sea Port.
“Lately, we are particularly focused on supporting and developing entry-level specialists who have a vocational or technical education,” said Lela Kvantaliani, Head of Human Resources and Communications.
“Sharing best industry practices and increasing employment opportunities for them remain key priorities for our team. We believe that by combining business and community care and working cooperatively, we will successfully overcome any challenge for the benefit of both our company and the country.”
Since August, 10 participants have been enrolled in "InPort STEM". After a short theoretical module, they underwent a practical internship in the port. 3 out of the participants have already joined as full-time members of the APM Terminals Poti team, while 3 of them have extended their internships.
For the four years of the programme’s existence, 45 young people have been enrolled, from whom, 26 have gone on to become employees of the company.
