Automated Terminal Trucks (ATTs) as Part of Our Expansion – The Future is Now

Earlier this year at APM Terminals Maasvlakte II, we tested extensively the deployment of Automated Terminal Trucks (ATTs). These unmanned vehicles are an essential part of our future expansion and will help us efficiently open up the new area to external trucks as well.

The ATTs operate in what we call a “Mixed Traffic Zone,” an area where both manned vehicles and unmanned vehicles such as the ATTs operate side by side. This places high demands on both safety and logistical coordination, but also allows us to take the throughput of your containers to a new level. 

What makes this technology so special? The ATTs operate completely autonomously, which means there are no human drivers involved. The redesign of the stack lanes and the introduction of special transfer points allow the ATTs to operate seamlessly....
