APM Terminals MVII - expansion update
In the first 4 months of this year, our terminal signed purchase orders worth hundreds of millions of euros. After the large crane order was already placed on March 13 for 62 Automated Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (ARMGs) with Austrian crane manufacturer Kuenz, supported by technology from ABB, the contract with ZPMC was also signed on April 18. This contract involves the purchase of 9 Super Quay Cranes (SQC) and 3 Barge Feeder Cranes (BFC).
The new SQCs are an entire container taller than the current SQCs and are also a row wider. The BFCs are as much as 11 meters higher, also one row wider and, like our current SQCs, will be equipped with a portal trolley. The latter is important to provide safe, reliable and fast operations for feeders (with twistlocks) as well.
It has been promised by ZMPC that the first 3 SQCs + 1 BFC will be delivered to our terminal as early as the end of next year. These cranes also excel in sustainability and energy efficiency. These two mega-contracts mean that most of the equipment needed for the expansion is on order. These orders secure the equipment for the expansion so that we can further anchor our strategic position.
We are also working hard to integrate the Automated Terminal Trucks properly on the terminal. This so that we can also guarantee sufficient space for truck handling in the future. The necessary contracts for this will also be signed in the coming period. Finally, the civil works will be put out to tender after the summer period. Around the end of this year we expect to start the first ground work. As soon as you start seeing something of this we will certainly share it.
