Record Year for JNPT Mumbai
Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) retained its status as the busiest container port in India in 2017 with a record throughput of 4.66 million TEUs (through December 28th).
APM Terminals Mumbai remained the busiest terminal of the four serving the port, handing a total of 1.94 million TEUs, or approximately 42% of the port’s total container volume.
JNPT, serving Mumbai, accounted for 45% of all India’s containerized cargo traffic of 12.7 million TEUs in FY 2016-17. The previous record of 4.5 million TEUs was set in 2016. APM Terminals Mumbai handled 1.8 million TEUs in 2016, representing 39.5% of the port’s total throughput.
