APM Terminals Hosts Hinterland Connectivity Seminar
This event is the latest in a series of one-day seminars from the International Cargo Handling Coordination Association (ICHCA) International to assess key risks and responses in cargo handling.
APM Terminals hosted an ICHCA Technical Panel which examined ways of minimizing risk and maximizing efficiency in port-hinterland cargo for customers. The panel was led by APM Terminals’ Global Head of Safety, Environment & Performance Management, Wouter De Gier who assumed the group’s leadership role in October of 2017.

Panel participants included Roy de Haan, Account Manager, Landside Customers for APM Terminals, and Professor Thomas Schlipkoether, Member of the Executive Board of the Duisburger Hafen AG and Head of Duisburg Port Authority. The ICHCA Technical Panel introduced three new working groups on Dangerous Goods, Digital & Innovation and Straddle Carrier Safety during the meeting.
“The land-side logistics supply chain is complex with many diverse actors. This diversity has an impact on the connectivity, reliability and safety of the supply chain. This is why we need to accelerate the discussion on how we connect better with ports and terminals. Participants presented potential new risks and issues and shared ideas to manage these,” said Mr. De Gier.
