APM Terminals Mumbai declares “War on Waste”

Identifying and eliminating waste is a key to improve business operations and achieve operational excellence. At APM Terminals Mumbai [GTI], it is our endevour to remove activity and elements that do not add value to our service and operations.

To engage our front-line employees in this task, we organized an online TIMWOODS waste removal contest in which the participants do Gemba and spot the waste in their daily work environment. We encouraged the employees to participate by sharing their improvement ideas and suggestions. We are delighted to share to have received 51 interesting ideas to eliminate waste in various processes. After a lot of discussion, 4 best entries were selected. The winners of the best ideas are Mr. Sunil Raghunath Patil, Mr. Deepak Kishor Thakur, Mr. Manoj Pandey & Mr. Sujit Kumar Varma. They were invited to present their ideas to the management and were felicitated for their creative inputs. The employees were happy to know that their inputs are not just being heard but will be implemented in day-to-day work.
