Doubling capacity is carefully prepared
APMT MVII's expansion plans are becoming more concrete with each step, and we look forward to the realized doubling of our capacity by 2027. This mega expansion is expected to contribute significantly to strengthening our terminal's position as the most modern gateway to Europe.
APMT MVII's project team is busy preparing for the expansion:
- the project team is growing. the project team is growing. Last month, the project team included 10 employees. Very soon, 3 more people will be hired.
- the 'On the Ground Planning' has been completed and the drawing process is finished.
- this month the contracts of the tenders SQCs/QCs and the ARMGs will be signed.
- the contractor tender is currently being set up.
- the permit request is on schedule. All requests must be submitted by the end of the year.
- it is being investigated whether autonomous vehicles could be a solution to connect the yard and rail terminal when the terminal is expanded.
- workshops are in progress to optimize planning and phasing.
Enthusiasm about the expansion among colleagues is growing as plans become more concrete. Employees tell more about the mega-expansion in the video below.
The Port of Rotterdam is responsible for the construction of the quay wall. This project is expected to be completed in August 2024. This is a delay from previous schedules, but this is not a problem for the terminal expansion.
Behind the APMT MVII expansion site, there are many other interesting developments. Both Maersk's Cross dock and STAR Empty Depot are set to open in quarter 1 of 2024. And on Nov. 1, the first spade went into the ground for the construction of Maersk's XXL cold storage warehouse. Maersk's XXL cold storage Warehouse offers an annual capacity of more than 40,000 FFEs of temperature-sensitive or frozen goods, such as: pharmaceuticals, fruits, vegetables, meat, and fish. Maersk plans to officially open the Cold Store in quarter 3 of 2024.
