How well have we served you this year?

As APM Terminals Gothenburg reflects back on 2023, we take pride in the substantial surge in productivity compared to last year. A noteworthy achievement is the remarkable reduction in truck handling time, which has reached unprecedented lows.

'High productivity is a fundamental factor and our ambition is to offer container handling that's as efficient as the major ports on the continent,' says Brian Bitsch, Commercial Manager at APM Terminals Gothenburg.

Now every truck is being handled eight minutes faster

In 2023, APM Terminals managed to reduce handling times at the gate by an average of eight minutes per truck, compared to the previous year.

‘Average handling time throughout the year has been less than 30 minutes. We've worked intensively to smooth out visitor peaks, for example by opening the gate half an hour earlier in the morning and keeping it open on weekends for customers who need extra service,' says Emma Klofsten Tendell, Customer Care Partner at APM Terminals Gothenburg.

Productivity one hour faster per ship

Vessel productivity, measured in number of lifts per hour, increased from 25.5 to 26.5 in 2023. This means that a normal-sized feeder vessel left APM Terminal’s quay on average one hour earlier this year, compared to 2022.

'When we let the vessels go earlier than agreed, they can slow down on the way to the next port and thereby reduce both climate emissions and costs,' says Martin Karlsson, Operational Manager at APM Terminals Gothenburg. 'According to forecasts, we can expect both new flows and increased volumes from existing customers in 2024, and we're more than ready to handle these volumes', he concludes.
