Direct lines result in record number of port calls in Gothenburg

While European commerce is strained, new opportunities are also cropping up for many companies to increase their business with Asia. This has been made possible by direct ocean-going lines from Gothenburg straight to the large ports in the East.

After being at port in Gothenburg for a week, one of the world’s largest vessels, Manila Maersk, left this week with a record turnover of no fewer than 4,450 loaded and unloaded containers. This corresponds to over 100 containers per hour.

“Thanks to the collaboration between 2M, APM Terminals Gothenburg and our rail operators, we have been able to raise direct lines to a new level. This is particularly positive, as now is the time that Swedish companies most in need of it,” says Magnus Lundberg, Commercial Head at APM Terminals in Gothenburg.
