Corona Virus - All ocean-going vessels calling APM Terminals Gothenburg as usual

There have been good volumes on the large oceangoing vessels to Gothenburg in recent weeks. Week 10 is expected to decline, which is an annual trend as a result of the Chinese New Year.

There is a lot of talk about "blank sails" from Asia, which means that scheduled departures are canceled. However, this does not apply to vessels operating Gothenburg, but other routes where transhipment takes place on the continent.

APM Terminals in Gothenburg can confirm that at present ocean-going vessels operate Gothenburg every week as usual. We also see that volumes from other ports are to some extent redirected to the larger line services available in Gothenburg to ensure that goods arrive as planned. Overall, a slight fall in volume is expected in March and April.

- In times of uncertainty, it is clear that many companies need to evaluate their options for freight transport in a different way than normal. This has brought about discussions about Sweden's need for direct traffic as a more prioritized and stable solution for companies' transport needs, says Magnus Lundberg, commercial manager at APM Terminal Gothenburg.
