APM Terminals Valencia speeds up self-registration of container damages
The old procedure requiring truckers to notify a coordinator to verify the damage on the EIR document is replaced by a safe area where they can take photographs of the damage before leaving the terminal.
APM Terminals Valencia has enabled a procedure for self-registration of any damage to a container in a safe area for pedestrians located before leaving the terminal. This is a marked and signposted space with a board, date and time, which must be photographed in the same image next to the doors and the right-hand side of the container from an optimum area marked on the ground which, together with the images that the driver considers necessary, will enable the carrier to obtain his own proof.
The procedure to be followed for recording the damage to the container, which can be seen in the video below, is as follows:
- Drive the lorry into the photocall area
- Get out of the lorry with the individual protection equipment (safety helmet and boots, and high visibility waistcoat)
- Position yourself on the floor marking at the rear of the lorry to take a general photo of the doors and the right side of the container, bearing in mind that the APM Terminals sign with the date and time must be visible in the photo
- Take any additional photos deemed necessary to accredit the damage
- Leave the photocall area through exit S4. Please note that it is not permitted to leave the assigned area, break seals or open the container.
The new photocall streamlines the self-recording of damage, so that it will no longer be necessary to notify the gates and wait for the arrival of a coordinator for the damage to be recorded on the EIR document.
