APM Terminals Algeciras implements a coronavirus action protocol

The container terminal applies a security protocol to mitigate the possible impact of COVID-19 on the company and the industry in which it operates, following instructions from the Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare

With the aim of protecting its employees, supporting health authorities in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, and keeping the terminal operational, APM Terminals has implemented internally all kinds of measures. These include the reinforcement of the cleaning of the work areas in each shift, both in the courtyard and in the offices, and the limitation of the presence of internal and external staff to avoid, as far as possible, any interaction. The minimum safe distance between people must always be respected when any such event occurs. In addition, it had established a hygiene point at the security post, where staff were required to wash their hands with soap and water in accordance with standards.

APM Terminals Algeciras has also developed an action protocol regarding the interaction of company personnel with the rest of the people in the port community.

Regarding maritime operations, it has been established that APM Terminals Algeciras personnel will assist ships only in exceptional cases. The ship's phone and email are required, along with written confirmation that no crew member has tested positive for coronavirus. Maintenance personnel will board the ship only in the event of an incident, spill or coupling of the spreaders.

For activities within the facilities that require the presence of external suppliers, APM Terminals Algeciras has asked all co-workers for a series of guidelines to limit services to those that are strictly necessary and to check that their activity is authorized before showing up at the terminal.
