All the way for the Customers
APM Terminals Poti has an ongoing program of developing new solutions to serve our customers, in pursuit of our ongoing goal to become the best-in-class terminal operator and to enhance customer orientation within the group. With the vision to advance customer centricity, APM Terminals Poti set a new course for satisfying our customers’ needs.
A change in vessel arrival times and an increased demand for General Cargo Services at Georgia's largest port – Poti Sea Port – enabled the APM Terminals Poti team to deliver another first to the market. On January 7, for the first time in company history, the team handled 3 General Cargo Vessels simultaneously.
In October 2020, APM Terminals Poti shared an update about upgrading Poti Sea Port’s equipment fleet by adding another Mobile Harbor Crane to the port assets. This latest investment allowed the company’s team to relocate the new crane to the unoccupied berth and handle three General Cargo vessels at the same time. The new Gottwald Mobile Harbour Crane (MHC), has just recently been deployed into operations, with the intention from the outset to deliver flexibility across APM Terminals’ operated berths.
"Handling 3 different types of general cargo simultaneously, including a project cargo vessel, with our existing shift structure was an unusual task for us. The operations needed to be planned and carried out in a relatively limited time which was an exciting challenge for the whole team. The operations all went smoothly, and we were able to deliver a quality service to our customers during a period of increased demand. We are happy to confirm that when there's a customer counting on our service, we are ready to work together to deliver results" – Matthew Rantanen, Chief Operations Officer, APM Terminals Poti.
