APM Terminals Poti handles heaviest cargo ever using dual mobile harbour cranes

The project started at the beginning of this year and includes the handling of 4 different pieces of Out of Gauge (OOG) cargo, out of which 3 will be handled by the end of September. The total weight of all three sets totals to 560 tons. The heaviest unit, weighing 204 tons, was handled by Poti Sea Port last week. 

With the full commitment and efforts of APMT Poti Operations & Technical Team, our employees successfully managed the process while following high safety standards. This is a significant achievement not only for company employees but for all the stakeholders working in transport & logistics. 

Prelaunch preparation, composing of several months of negotiations and decision-making processes, also encompassed technical changes made to the cranes' set-up. Corrections into the settings of Mobile Harbor Cranes were made internally by APM Terminals Poti Asset Maintenance Team, with the assistance and guidance from the German Crane Manufacturer, “Liebherr.”

The 204 Ton Generator is not only the heaviest unit that has ever been handled at Poti Sea Port with harbor cranes but, indeed, at any Georgian Port.
