APM Terminals Pipavav Signs MOUs contributing to economy, community, and environment at Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024

At the Vibrant Gujarat Summit today, APM Terminals Pipavav signed a series of Memorandums Of Understandings (MOUs) to develop a complete green hydrogen ecosystem and develop port infrastructure. The first-move advantage of this initiative will provide economic benefits for both, the local and regional economy, boost employment and support wider decarbonisation goals.

Vibrant Gujarat Summit is known for its critical role in promoting business and investment in the state and the series of MOUs by APM Terminals Pipavav is a manifestation of this journey. The focus of latest MOUs will be on initiatives such as the development of the region through investment, Green Hydrogen facilities, utilization of renewable power sources, and infrastructure development, among
others.

MOU details:

1. Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) - Infrastructure Development
   APM Terminals Pipavav and GMB [Gujarat Maritime Board] signed MOU to facilitate necessary permissions for the construction of Liquid Berth, Container Berth and a Yard, Container Handling Equipment, and Marine Infrastructure Development at Pipavav Port, estimated at the cost of INR 3,320 crore, thereby creating jobs and economic growth through infrastructure development.
2. NTPC-Green Hydrogen Development
   APM Terminals Pipavav and NTPC [National Thermal Power Corpoartion] signed MOU for developing Green Hydrogen facilities for production at land provided by the port, with an aim for export/domestic usage through various models and exploring sourcing renewable power from NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL).
3. Welspun - Green Hydrogen Collaboration
   APM Terminals Pipavav and Welspun Group signed MOU to explore opportunities for the development of Green Hydrogen facilities at land provided by the port. The collaboration will target export/domestic usage through various models.

Green hydrogen is produced from water and renewable energy. It can replace fossil fuels, such as natural gas in industrial processes, as a transport fuel, as a sustainable industrial raw material and as energy storage to replace batteries.
