COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Business Update – No.3
This is further to our Business Update circulated on 18th March 2020 and second Business Update circulated on 21st March 2020.
The Honourable Prime Minister of India as part of his address dated 24th March 2020 and as detailed in Ministry of Home Affairs Order No. 40-3/2020-D dated 24th March 2020, has mandated a Pan India ‘Lockdown’ for 21 days effective midnight of 24th March 2020. The shutdown has been mandated to arrest the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
It is clarified that APM Terminals Pipavav, being engaged in providing essential services, remains operational. Vessels calling the port are arriving and sailing and all our employees are working to secure business continuity while complying all guidelines for COVID-19 issued by statutory authorities. We continue to accept and evacuate container / cargo arriving by vessel, rail and road. Port Customs house, clearance and other business activities at the port remain operational.
In addition to Port Operations we understand that ability of stakeholders engaged with related port activities i.e., CFS, CHA / Shipping Agents, Transporters, Surveyors etc. to access port is critical to continuing operations. There have been restrictions imposed on movement of private vehicles which has caused disruptions in movement for such key stakeholders earlier today. We are coordinating with statutory bodies to assist stakeholders and ease such restrictions on movement of stakeholders engaged with providing port related services.
Notwithstanding above, the implementation of “Lockdown”, has resulted into constraint in movement of Men and Material. We are deeply cognizant that this pandemic could also adversely impact health of personnel engaged in port operations and are taking all Safety precautions for such personnel.
We are closely monitoring the local situation whilst working towards mitigating any possible impact to your supply chain. We shall keep all our stakeholders and customers updated through our ‘Advisories’. All such advisories are also updated on the website. Your colleagues can also stay connected with our corporate and regional offices contacts for any information on Port operations. Our satellite offices are closed , however all our Terminal and Commercial personnel are available on email and phone. We are committed to supporting you and your business in the best possible way through these unprecedented times.
Thank you,
APM Terminals Pipavav
