Further details/adjustment to Wednesday 10/20

In preparation for the heavy equipment move Wednesday it was decided that an adjustment had to be made.  For the drayage community there will be an added wrinkle.

Port hours will remain 8am - 6pm (in gate closes at 6pm and trucks have to be out by 7pm).

Baker Street between the chassis/rail yard and the container terminal will be closed for much of the morning and possibly early afternoon.  Staff and security will be directing traffic, but chassis will be accessible.  Drivers will need to access the facility via Broad St.  There is an exit from I-10 for Broad St both east and west bound.  The estimated additional drive time is 1 minute 40 seconds to take the alternative route.

Around 10am there will be a full traffic stop for approximately 12 minutes (could last up to 20 minutes) at the gate area of the main container facility.  Activity within the container terminal will continue during this time.  Just trucks arriving or trucks attempting to depart will be paused for a short period as a heavy equipment movement departs the facility.  We do not know the exact time traffic will stop, but just have drivers aware of that this will occur around 10am Wednesday morning.

The terminal would also like to report out that today, Tuesday Oct 19 had one of the best turn times of 2021 and extended the gate 1 hour.  We however saw fewer imports picked up vs any other Tuesday since June.

APM Terminals Mobile, AL displays turn times publicly on the web site and is working for solutions on how to flow cargo. With media discussions on port congestion, the Mobile facility has off site storage options and working to keep drayage providers moving.  To keep accepting vessels, cargo will need flow from the terminal to allow new cargo to arrive.  Reach out to MOBCS@APMTERMINALS.COM as we are working to provide supply chain solutions to our partners.
