Customised packages support APM Terminals Pecém's leading role in the renewable energy market

The Covid-19 pandemic accelerated the growth of the renewable energy market in Brazil, mainly through solar and wind power. According to data from the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (ABSOLAR), Ceará is the 9th state in Brazil and the 1st in the Northeast region to produce clean energy with sunlight. In 2020, the state tripled its production and become responsible for 3.5% of all the power in the country.

From March 2020 to February 2021, 5,000 TEUs of renewable energy related cargo was transported to the main ports in the Northeast (Source: Datamar). APM Terminals Pecém handled around 33% of this cargo. This equates to more than 62 thousand tons of panels and equipment for Solar Energy. The high volume handled is due to the capacity of our Terminal, the vast portfolio of services and specialized staff at APM Terminals.
