Contingency Measures for Potential Work Stoppage – Updated

NOTE: Updates to this information were published on September 30.

Dear Valued Customers and Stakeholders,

As the USMX–ILA master contract expiration date of September 30, 2024, approaches, we would like to provide additional updates and guidelines in case an agreement is not reached and a work stoppage ensues.

Please see the details below regarding export receival deadlines and reefer cargo responsibility:

Last Date for Export Receival:

  • Reefer & Hazardous (IMO) Cargo: APM Terminals will receive reefer and hazardous export cargo through end of business on Friday, September 27, subject to no new agreement being in place.
  • Dry Cargo & Empty Containers: Receival for dry export cargo and empty containers will continue through Monday, September 30, subject to no new agreement being in place.

Responsibility for Reefer Cargo:
Please note that any reefer cargo left within the terminal after the deadline will not be monitored or maintained during any work stoppage. Customers are solely responsible for reefer containers left in the terminal after this period.

Electricity Charges for Reefer Containers:
While reefer containers will not be monitored during any work stoppage, electricity charges will continue to accrue for the duration that the cargo remains on-site.

Please note revised gate hours below:
     Thurs-Fri, Sep 26-27 — 6 AM – 7 PM
Saturday, Sep 28 — 6 AM – 4 PM, reefers included (No Exports or OOG)
     Sunday, Sep 29 — CLOSED
     Monday, Sep 30 — 6 AM – 4PM

We strongly encourage you to expedite the pickup of all import cargo to avoid any complications during periods of potential stoppages.

Thank you for your cooperation. We will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves.
