COVID-19 Update: Committed to Egypt

Over the last few days Egypt has also seen unfortunate development of COVID-19 cases. The Government of Egypt has introduced a number of measures to confront and contain the situation. Prime Minister of Egypt declared curfew from 19h00 to 06h00 for two weeks period starting 25th March.

Earlier, both international and domestic flights were suspended from 19th March for two weeks (now extended to mid-April). Government offices are only open for essential services. Central Bank of Egypt has announced measures to stabilize the economy, including 3% interest rate cut and injection of 20 billion Egyptian pounds to support the Egyptian stock market.

Egyptian ports have been declared as a vital and strategic facility by Government – essential for economy and keeping supply chain in and out of Egypt running. At SCCT, we fully understand and honour the trust placed on us and are committed to do our best for Egyptian people and the economy.

We are working with key authorities, employees union and other health and safety bodies to ensure a safe working environment for our employees and other users of the terminal and keep the strategic facility operating 24×7 both at quayside and gate.
