Pipavav Safety Milestone
APM Terminals Pipavav recently commemorated the achievement of 1,000 days without a Lost-Time Incident (LTI), with a ceremony at the terminal, and a message from APM Terminals CEO Morten Engelstoft shared across the APM Terminals portfolio:
“I am very pleased to share with you that over the weekend, Pipavav reached a milestone in their HSSE journey- 1000 days without a Lost Time Incident (LTI). This is a commendable achievement and the team has worked very hard to make this happen. Keld Pedersen, Managing Director of Pipavav, has challenged the team with another very ambitious target; to reach another 1000 days without anybody getting hurt or injured at the terminal. The team will have all of our support to make that happen.
While we celebrate this achievement not just at Pipavav, but across APM Terminals, I would like to call on you to remain humble and not get complacent when it comes to safety. Our employees are our greatest asset. I count on you to not look the other way when you see a risk or a hazard. Safety is an integral part of our values. It is all of our jobs to look after one another and ensure we make it home to our families safe every night.”
APM Terminals holds a 43% share in Port Pipavav, located in Gujarat State, on India’s West Coast, assuming managerial control in May 2005. Container throughput at the port was 682,000 TEUs in 2016, along with approximately 3 million tons of bulk cargo.
