APM Terminals Inland Services South Asia was named winner of the Topaz Excellence in Logistics Award at the Lloyd’s List Middle East & Indian Subcontinent Awards. The award, sponsored by Topaz Energy and Marine, recognizes “the shipping or logistics company that has worked with shippers not only to provide ocean transportation but a total logistics package with a full end to end supply management across both the sea and land sectors within Middle East and Indian Subcontinent.”

APM Terminals Inland Services, South Asia has pioneered an aggressive approach to improving logistics services in the Indian sub-continent, establishing new benchmarks in productivity, technological applications, innovations and operational efficiencies.  Continuing to address identified unmet needs of customers, APM Terminals Inland Services offers integrated solutions in India through a balanced network of Container Freight Stations (CFS), Inland Container Depots (ICD), Container Maintenance Facilities and value-based services. 

A new under-construction ICD, will be located at Pune will provide services most valued by industries in the region such as inventory control, quick turnaround time and flexibility. With over 49,000 square meters of area (10,000 square meter warehouse), the Pune facility will be able to handle 60,000 TEU and will provide warehousing, supply chain management, transportation, and triangulation services. In Chennai, new services were established to include dedicated, state-of-the art warehousing and transportation for Volvo’s Completely Built-Up Units (CBUs) automotive units, imported from Europe to India through the Port of Chennai. This customized 102,000 square foot facility includes bonded and non-bonded areas with an overall capacity of 500 vehicles, and is an important milestone for India’s fast-growing automotive industry. 

Containerized trade has expanded at a compound annual growth rate of approximately 10% percent over the past ten years in India, and is projected to continue growing at a similar pace as India undertakes infrastructure expansion projects. Jawaharlal Nehru Port, serving Mumbai, is India’s busiest container port, accounting for 44% of all India’s containerized cargo traffic of 10 million TEUs in 2015. It is the 29th-busiest container port in the world, with a record throughput of 4.48 million TEUs in 2015. India is the fastest-growing major economy worldwide, with an annual growth rate of 7.6% projected by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for 2016 and 2017.

APM Terminals Inland Services South Asia serves India’s expanding and increasingly important logistics supply chain through its operations in Chennai, Nhava Sheva (Mumbai), Panvel, Pipavav, and Dadri where it has set up an Inland container depot in joint venture with CONCOR.
