General Cargo

APM Terminals Liberia operates 24 hours per day to provide world-class services to our customers.

APM Terminals Liberia operates one dedicated berth for general cargo operations, in addition to its 1 multi-use berth. We have equipment to handle bagged cargo (rice, concrete etc.) as well as break bulk cargo (e.g. wheat, rice, concrete, clinker, gypsum).

We operate three dedicated gate lines to ensure there is no delay in the arrival and departure of trucks from the port. In August 2022, the terminal commissioned a new dedicated General Cargo weigh bridge, to provide VGM accuracy. General cargo is weighed and billed respectively for vessel discharge weight verification as per our tariff. VGM is mandatory for all general cargo discharged or loaded from and to vessels within the terminal.

RoRo

The port can also handle RoRo vessels, with a separate area for vehicle storage. We have expertise to jump-start nonfunctioning vehicles

Timber Exports

Between June-November 2022, APM Terminals Liberia processed more than 22,000 cubic metres of logs for export. The opportunity to handle logs at the Terminal is an economic opportunity for Liberia. At the same time the terminal helps ensure that all lawful revenues due to the government are received by the government. The resumption of timber export at the Freeport of Monrovia, generates revenue for government, but also brings relief to logging customers trucking from the western parts of the country (Gbarpolu, Lofa, Bomi) who can now easily access the Freeport of Monrovia for business instead of trucking their logs to Buchanan, Sinoe and other more distant Ports.
