Expansion project to double capacity at APM Terminals Maasvlakte II commences

Thanks in part to our valued network of relationships, APM Terminals Maasvlakte II is able to grow. The expansion is a huge project and the first concrete steps to double the capacity of APM Terminals Maasvlakte II are currently being taken.

Ground surveys have started, important tenders have been prepared and sent out, and work on the 1000m quay extension is in progress. As a result, expansion plans are becoming more and more concrete. The animation below will give you an overview of the expanded terminal.

New equipment

To realize the doubling of capacity, new equipment is needed. For example, nine deep-sea cranes will be added, as well as three double trolley barge/feeder cranes, 62 automated rail mounted gantry cranes (ARMGs), two rail gantry cranes for four new rail tracks, 71 Lift Automated Guided Vehicles (L-AGVs) and 18 automated vehicles suitable for mixed traffic (Auto PMs). Buildings will also be extended.
