APM Terminals are equipped for autumn’s high pressures

Demand for sustainable container transport via APM Terminals was unusually high during the summer, with volumes up to 30 per cent higher than in the same period last year.

'One important reason for the high summer volumes is the increase in imports, which is being driven by continued backlog in the global supply chain', says Per Wahlström, market analyst at APM Terminals Gothenburg.

'The high demand is expected to continue during the autumn, as we see continued strong growth in both imports and exports from all over the country', he continues.

On top of the continued disruptions in the global supply chain, we're seeing increased inflation and fluctuations in the economy.

'Clearly, ports with a broad customer base are doing better, as some industries will grow and others will shrink', says Per Wahlström.

'Several of the shipping companies coming into APM Terminals have ordered new ships with more capacity, which means that during the first half of 2023 there will be more tonnage available, while freight prices are expected to be under even more pressure', he concludes.

With a bigger workforce and several initiatives to increase efficiency, APM Terminals Gothenburg is equipped to continue receiving and handling your goods during the autumn.
