APM Terminals Bahrain Improves safety and efficiency

APM Terminals Bahrain frontliners, third party contractors and port users, work in a unique and often challenging environment where they interact with different types and sizes of machinery and equipment. While APM Terminals strives to create a safe environment for all, we continue to improve efficiency and safety for all.

APM Terminals Bahrain constantly works on developing a workplace where everybody is safe while at work. Through the great teamwork across the company, several local safety improvements have been deployed which will enhance the way of working and safety for all.

At the Asset Maintenance Department, welders had been facing difficulty using their safety helmets and face shields, which is an added layer of protection to their normal PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), while working on equipment.

In line with our perpetual improvement mindset, the team took it upon themselves and created a blended helmet and face shield for a better safety to the welders throughout their job

In addition, APM Terminals Bahrain team has worked on eliminating the risks triggered by way of Man-Machine interaction while the Container Handling Equipment (CHE) is used for lifting to align the container doors, with the aid of introducing a box leveler jack. This initiative has enhanced the efficiency and productivity at the port.
