KBSP Twist-lock Pinning/Un-pinning Rules
Dear Valued Customers,
The safe transportation of containers on third party trucks within the Kingdom of Bahrain is of paramount importance to APM Terminals. With the objective of ensuring the safety of personnel and property, APM Terminals would like to reiterate the following rules and regulations that apply at KBSP, for containers that are transported to and from the port.
- All third-party trucks bringing containers to KBSP are required to keep the twist-locks of the trailer fully secured and in locked condition, till the truck arrives at the inbound twist-lock un-pinning stations.
- Upon arrival at the inbound twist-lock un-pinning station, the truck operator shall alight from the truck and unlock/open the twist-locks on the trailer. Any failure to unlock/open the twist-locks at the inbound twist-lock un-pinning station, before proceeding to off-load a container in the yard, could result in damages to the trailer, container &/or yard handling equipment. Transport companies involved in such incidents shall be held responsible for any damages caused because of non-compliance to this requirement.
- Similarly, after receiving a container in the yard, the truck shall proceed to the respective outbound twist-lock pinning station, where the driver shall alight from the truck and secure/lock all twist-locks on the trailer, before proceeding towards the port gate.
- For safety reasons, truck operators are NOT allowed to alight from their truck at any point while it is in the yard, unless they are doing so at designated twist-lock pinning/un-pinning stations.
- Trucks shall be driven at a safe speed that does not exceed 10 KMPH, besides avoiding sharp turns, while they are inside the container terminal.
- Transport companies are fully responsible for ensuring that the integrity of twist-locks on trailers is not compromised and that they are always in proper working condition.
- APM Terminals shall undertake random checks to ensure that twist-lock pinning requirements are full complied with at KBSP. Strict action will be taken against trucks found violating these requirements. This may include but not be limited to penal charges and/or access to the port being restricted for the defaulting truck.
- Transport companies shall be solely liable for costs and consequences of any accidents or incidents arising in the Kingdom of Bahrain, due to their failure to adhere to twist-lock pinning and un-pinning requirements stipulated above.
We take this opportunity to thank our customers for their co-operation in ensuring the safe transportation of containers at all times.
Sincerely Yours,
APM TERMINALS BAHRAIN
